Solid programme

Solid Programme is a collection of 3 programmes that have been developed to inspire, support and prepare hiphop dancers aged 12 to 24, who are passionate and talented, for a dance career in the theatrical field.

The programme is divided into 3 parts: Solid Lite, Solid Young Talent and Solid Pro. Within these programmes, attention is paid to individual development, and the opportunity to gain practical experience is offered. The goal is not only to develop dance skills, but also to promote personal growth, explore professional opportunities in the world of hiphop dance and contribute to the artistic development of the dancers.

Solid pro

Dancedemic dancer

The Dancedemic initiative was pioneered by  Henry O'Tawiah, whose idea was creating a choreography for young people around the theme “Corona experiences”. This initiative was supported by Solid and ISH, and after the premiere in De Meervaart (May 8, 2022) Solid adopted it as part of regular talent development programme.

Solid Pro is a continuation on the Dancedemic initiative, a development programme for semi-pro/autodidacts hiphop dancers between the ages of 18 and 25, who are interested in dancing in theatre performances, but may not yet be convinced or have no experience with theatre.

From 6 to 12 dancers are admitted through auditions and trained in this 8-month process by Henry O'Tawiah and Victoria Osipova. While the cast further develop themselves as dancers, they get the opportunity to gain insight and experience in what it means to be part of a theatre production. The process ends with a premiere at an established theatre of the city of Amsterdam. Check out upcoming shows.

Solid lite

Solid Lite is for Hiphop dancers, aged 16 and older, who are interested in theater performances but may not yet have experience with theater. During the programme, they are trained for 8 months by an aspiring choreographer under the guidance of Henry O'Tawiah. While the choreographer goes through that programme,, these dancers act as the cast members. In this way, the dancers are included in a theatre presentation from start to finish. As they further develop themselves as dancers, they get the opportunity to gain insight and experience of what it means to be part of a theatre production.
